The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is the latest state association to jump on the T20 bandwagon, with plans to launch its own league in the 2025-26 season.
GCA Secretary Anil Patel confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz, stating that the association is currently working to identify a suitable window for the tournament. Details such as the number of participating teams are yet to be finalized.
These domestic T20 leagues have become crucial scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra provide a platform for local players to showcase their talents and potentially earn a spot in the prestigious IPL. Many of these leagues are held in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
